Champagne Gremillet Blanc de Noirs Brut NV

Champagne Gremillet Blanc de Noirs is a white Champagne made entirely from black grapes, grown in the Côte des Bar where the Gremillet family has its home in Balnot-sur-Laignes. Pinot Noir is king in this southern corner of Champagne, ripening fully on limestone slopes, and this cuvée shows off that richness. The grapes are pressed gently so the juice stays pale, and the wine undergoes its second fermentation in bottle by the traditional method before ageing on its lees.

Gremillet Blanc de Noirs is pale gold with a fine, persistent bead. The nose shows ripe orchard fruit and citrus with dried flowers, a touch of spice and toasted brioche. The palate is rich, juicy and weighty, yet precise, with notes of pear and blood orange, a creamy mousse and good length.

Its body makes it a great food Champagne: try it with roast chicken or guinea fowl, pork, seared tuna, wild mushroom dishes or aged Comté. Serve chilled at 8–10°C, ideally in a tulip or white wine glass. Champagne Gremillet Blanc de Noirs is ready to drink now and will keep for a year or two.

Champagne Gremillet is a family house in Balnot-sur-Laignes, in the Côte des Bar at the southern tip of Champagne in the Aube. Jean-Michel Gremillet began making his own Champagne in 1979, starting from a small plot of vines inherited from his mother. Today his children, Anne and Jean-Christophe, run the house with their spouses, with Jean-Christophe as winemaker. The family estate covers around 40 hectares, where Pinot Noir thrives on the region’s limestone soils, alongside Chardonnay, and they also buy grapes from partner growers. Gremillet has six hectares of certified organic vines, used for its Forget-me-not cuvée. The style is generous and fruit-forward, reflecting the ripe Pinot Noir of the Côte des Bar.
